The City of Buffalo is getting ready to say goodbye to another year with the annual ball drop in Roosevelt Plaza.

7ABC is once again a proud sponsor, and will begin coverage from the ball drop site at 11:00PM.

Tonight, organizers say thousands are expected to attend the ball drop, and security will be tight.

"The Buffalo Police Department is the finest department in the country," said Mike Schmand, Executive Director of Buffalo Place. "They have this thing under control. They've had numerous meetings with the commissioner all the way on down. I'm not going to get into details but I will assure people that they are safe."

Schmand says if people come down early, they can enjoy free ice skating at Rotary Rink. There will also be live music to help people ring in the New Year.

Watch the coverage live on 7ABC or on wkbw.com.
