It was a busy few hours for the Buffalo Fire Department late Wednesday night as they battled two fires.

The first fire broke out on Fillmore Avenue near Memorial Drive just after 11 p.m.  The fire gutted the second floor of a vacant home and spread into the attic.  The fire caused $40,000 in damage.  The fire is under investigation.

About 40 minutes later, a second fire broke out about a mile down the road at 3 Clifford Street.

Officials said it was started by an arsonist and caused $30,000 in damages.
