Buffalo embraces diversity in business, declares MWBE week

September 25th through 29th has been declared Minority-and-Women-Owned-Businesses (MWBE) Week in Buffalo. 

Some events this week include: 

  • Wednesday - How to Respond to a 'Request for Proposals' at 462 Grider Street in Smith Auditorium from 6-8 p.m.
  • Thursday - The PITCH: A collaborative MWBE Business Plan Competition at the Buffalo Museum of Science from 5-9 p.m.
  • Friday - 'Big Opportunities for Small Business' at SUNY Buffalo State's Burchfield Penney Art Center at 8 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Mayor Brown said, "One of my top priorities has always been to ensure that all businesses have the opportunity to compete and succeed."

Since the City's MBE/WBE program launch in 2006, conditions for minority and females workers have improved by increasing equity in the City of Buffalo contracting and hiring opportunities.
