This morning the John R. Oishei Foundation awarded a $300,000 grant to the Buffalo City Mission.

The money will be given to the Mission in increments over a three year period in support of their Next Century Capital Campaign.

City Mission says the money will go to a new facility to help Buffalonians in need. Reps say the center will include a medical clinic, health services, community legal services, case management, classrooms, a chapel, and an emergency shelter.

Buffalo City Mission CEO, Stuart Harper, says, "These essential funds will be used to build a new men's shelter that will mirror the highly successful women's facility, Cornerstone Manor while doubling the size of its predecessor."

According to the Home Alliance of Western New York, the homeless population is on the rise with a nine percent increase last year.
