Many of the Buffalo & Erie County Public Libraries are expanding their open hours this weekend in an effort to provide the community with a cool place to go during a weekend of extreme heat.
"Libraries welcome EVERYONE. You don't need a library card to go to a library," said Library Director Mary Jean Jakubowski. "Libraries are integral to our communities, and we want to help; therefore, we are expanding hours on Saturday and opening several (air conditioned) libraries on Sunday to help folks get some relief from the heat. Plus there will be plenty to do as some libraries will have crafts for children, ongoing movies and exhibits. Free library cards will be available to those who want to get one with proof of Erie County residency or employment."
