In 1990, the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra was on life-support. Attendance was down and the bank account was dry. But that was then and this is now. The BPO is back!
So things had to change, and they did. The orchestra put a new Board in place, hired a new Music Director and began making long-time collaborations with private and corporate donors. It reconnected with the Western New York community.
The BPO has made a big comeback and today it enjoys a renewed popularity, in contrast to some other big-city symphony's that were thriving when we went to Miami in 1990, but now the tables have turned.
7 EWN Anchor Keith Radford takes a look back at the bad times and shows us how the BPO is doing today.
