Bon-Ton controversy over gift cards

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) - Controversy is brewing over Bon-Ton's going out of business sales.

State Assemblyman Ray Walter is calling on the retailer to reverse its decision not to accept prepaid gift cards.

The bankrupt department store chain is also not honoring store and return credits.

The decision has left countless customers unable to redeem gift cards they already purchased.

Bon-Ton will close its stores nationwide by August 31.  There are eight Bon-Ton locations in Western New York.
