The U.S. Coast Guard and several Good Samaritans rescued eight people out of the water at the mouth of the Niagara River Sunday afternoon.
Coast Guard officials say a 43-foot sailboat ran aground, tearing off the keel, and causing it to capsize.
Some nearby boaters pulled three people from the water, and the Coast Guard rescued five others.
Nobody was seriously hurt.
