Talk about #Blessed!

Seven of St. Mary's Softball Central Lancers were touched or blessed by the Holy Father.

Erin Hufford, a member of the high school's Class of 2017, was one of the students close enough to touch him.

She said, "He is such a gentle, kind man. To be able to receive that type of blessing from Pope Francis, himself, is a life-changing thing. It is something I will be telling my grandkids about years from now."

St. Mary's High School Softball Central Lancers and their families just returned from a week abroad in Italy. The program has been planning the trip for a full year.

Mike Rappl, first-year assistant coach at St. Mary's, used to take his Canisius teams to Italy to play games against new competition. He saw fit to continue the tradition at St. Mary's.

The student athletes met former Italian Olympic softball players, participated in a day of community service, and attended Mass at Duomo diForli.
