Bisons mourn loss of ballpark icon

The Buffalo Bisons have lost a longtime member of the herd.

Larry 'The Peanut Man' Owens died Sunday at the age of 71.

Owens was the first person the Bisons hired before the opening of then-Pilot Field in 1988.

He had been with the organization ever since, selling regular, salted and Canjun peanuts at every home game near section 104.

His warm personality and infectious smile earned him a fan base of his own. And then there was his memory - an amazing memory that allowed him to connect with fans by name.

"Throughout the years, he became an esteemed and beloved fixture to all of our fans and everyone in our organization," said Jonathan Dandes, President of Rich Baseball Operations. "All of us will miss him deeply."
