Legislation to add Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) to the list of qualifying conditions to allow a person to purchase medical marijuana is now heading to Governor Andrew Cuomo's desk.

The bill received approval from the New York State Senate on Tuesday. It passed the Assembly in May.

The bill is sponsored by Senator Diane Savino (D-Staten Island) and co-sponsored by several senators.

According to the Marijuana Policy Project, 26 of the 29 states with medical marijuana programs allow patients with PTSD to qualify.
