Buffalo is more and more becoming a bike-friendly city and Independent Health is working to hasten that effort.

Starting this summer, the health insurance company and Share Mobility will team up to launch “Reddy Bikeshare.” Two hundred bikes will be available at hubs and will allow riders to explore the waterfront, downtown and surrounding neighborhoods.

The bikes will have built-in solar panels to operate a GPS, track calories burned, distance traveled, duration of ride, estimated reduction in CO2 emissions and calculation of money saved instead of driving.

There will be two plans for use, one for frequent users and another for occasional users. Independent Health members will receive a discount.
