There's a new push for some much needed improvements at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station.
New York's senior Senator, Charles Schumer, held a news conference Monday morning, calling for major improvements to the base's infrastructure.
He wants to use $50 million in federal money to help fix one of the main gates to the base.
He also wants the runway expanded to better accommodate the base's new air refueling mission with the KC-135 planes. Other improvement projects are also on that wish list.
The Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station is Niagara County's biggest employer.
