Ice skating rinks are now open at the site of the old Memorial Auditorium at Canalside and Tuesday another step forward towards revitalization was announced.

The Explore and More Children's Museum plans to move from East Aurora to Buffalo's Canalside into a 40,000-square foot facility. On Tuesday, a $500,000 investment from Fisher Price, a subsidiary of Mattel, was announced.

This the latest investment to the move, bringing the total to more than $4 million.

The money from Fisher Price money will go towards the Tinkering Tank, which is part of a national campaign to inspire creativity and innovation in children by letting them explore the world in a hands-on workshop.

Explore and More is moving to downtown Buffalo in order to expand its facility as well as to become more centrally located for Western New York families.

The Explore and More Children's Museum's new location is expected to open up in 2016.
