Bicyclist hit and killed in North Tonawanda

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) - Police have identified the bicyclist who was hit and killed Tuesday morning in North Tonawanda as 34-year-old Aaron Hoellig.

Police say a Hoellig was struck at 8:40 a.m. on Twin Cities Memorial Highway at Schenck Street. Video shows him trying to cross the southbound lanes moments after the light turned red for east/west bound traffic, according to police.

Investigators say Hoellig was hit by one vehicle and then ran over by another.

Both drivers are cooperating with police. No charges have been filed. Police say there is no alcohol or drug usage suspected by either driver or the bicyclist at this time.
