Wouldn't it be nice to live more than double our expected life span?

Ethel the sloth did just that. The two-toed nocturnal mammal died Tuesday at the Buffalo Zoo at the age of 32. The median life expectancy of her species, which spend countless hours upside down in the rain forests of Central and South America, is 15.

Ethel was a fixture in the zoo's Ecostation since she arrived from the Salisbury Zoo in 1987.

Sloths often sleep for 15 hours a day, but lucky zoo visitors would catch Ethel in action, helping herself to her favorite treats from the branches of her home.

The zoo is asking anyone with pictures of Ethel through the years to share them on its Facebook page.
