An employee of the NYS School for the Blind, in Batavia, has been arrested for harassing and endangering three children, according to the NYS Justice Center.

Prosecutors say 57-year-old Kenneth Darch, of Batavia, is charged with several counts of endangering the welfare of a child and two counts of harassment.

Authorities say the charges stem from an incident in which Darch allegedly hit two of the children on an outing and used abusive language against them.

According to prosecutors, Darch is also alleged to have taunted the children by directing their bus driver to take them to a local jail, with the threat of incarceration.

Prosecutors say Darch, who is a recreation therapist, was arraigned in Batavia City Court and is scheduled to reappear on March 7.

Darch has been placed on administrative leave. The NYS School for the Blind is operated by the State Education Department.
