Buffalo is gearing up for the second largest New Year's Eve ball drop in the country. The drop was tested on Wednesday morning and it was a success.

Mayor Byron Brown noted that the weather for this year's celebration will be more mild and he expects more people to fill Roosevelt Plaza.

"Now in its 28th year the ball drop of course has become an annual tradition that keeps getting bigger, better, and brighter," said Mayor Brown.

Western New York native and Nashville star Kaitlin Koch will be performing along with Jennafer Lynsey.

Channel 7 is a proud sponsor of this year's celebration. Our live coverage will begin tomorrow night at 11 and will be streamed live online.

Ed Drantch, Katie Morse and Mike Randall are this year's hosts.
