Baker Hall School on lockdown after student tried bringing loaded gun into school

A student at the Baker Hall School tried bringing a gun into the school Monday morning, putting the facility on lockdown.

According to Our Lady of Victory Services, a metal detector alerted security to the weapon in Devonte Ridgeway's, 20, book bag.

The student was arrested by Lackawanna Police, according to the school. Ridgeway was charged with criminal possession of a loaded firearm and criminal possession of a firearm on school grounds, both felonies.

The school is still on lockdown, but will have a standard dismissal.
