Attorney Vincent M. Gaughan Jr. passes away at 65

Attorney and international executive Vincent M. Gaughan, Jr. has passed away at the age of 65. His family tells 7 Eyewitness News that the Hamburg native died suddenly on Thursday, January 11th in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. 

Mr. Gaughan had spent the last 12 years working abroad with golf icon Jack Nicklaus and his global golf design company. In 2016 he was named Director of Nicklaus Project Management. 

"Vincent was a tremendous representative of our company," Nicklaus said in a statement through the family. 'It was through Vincent's efforts and persistence that we were able to introduce Nicklaus golf, and golf in general, to new markets around the world."

Mr. Gaughan was one of seven children of Vincent Gaughan, Sr and Margaret McGovern Gaughan. His father served as a special assistant to President John Kennedy. 

"Vincent was a brilliant businessman, devoted father and cherished brother", said Kevin Gaughan. "He lived for his daughter Alexs who filled him with delight."

Mr. Gaughan is survived by his beloved Katya and their three-year old daughter, Zlataslava ("Alexs"); sisters Karen Scott, Judith Warren, Colleen Walsh, Shannon Bowman, and Patricia Burke; his brother Kevin; sixteen nieces and nephews and seven great nieces and nephews. 

Arrangements for a Mass of Christian Burial are pending.
