The attorney representing the teen at the center of the High Tread International fire investigation believes his client will face charges, this according to the Buffalo News.
The lawyer for the 13-year-old told the Buffalo News Wednesday, he “fully expects charges to be files.”
Given the suspect’s age, the case will be handled by Niagara County Family Court.
It was on August 5, 2016 when the largest fire in the City of Lockport’s history ripped through the tire recycling plant.
Joe Phillips, a 14-year-old from Lockport, was inside at the time of the fire and was not able to escape.
The plant fire burned for nearly three days, forcing hundreds to evacuate and left more than $5 million dollars in damage.
7 Eyewitness News has made calls to the Mayor of Lockport as well as the attorney representing the teen to gather information on the type of charges the minor could face.
