Artpark season finale: Spectacular outdoor performances announced

The Artpark season finale event has been announced and it features two outdoor spectacles.

William Close and The Earth Harp Collective and Big Bang by the French performance group Plasticiens Volants will be performing September 2.

William Close and The Earth Harp Collectivewill open the event at 6 p.m. in the Upper Park Amphitheater. The group is an internationally renowned ensemble that combines the creative works of artists, musicians, composers and choreographers. The show is centered around the earth harp, one of the many new and cutting edge instruments featured in the show.

After the opening show, Artpark will present the U.S. premier of Big Bang by Plasticiens Volantsat 8:30 p.m. The French group uses giant inflated puppets and objects to create stories from history, mythology and literature against the evening sky. The Big Bang performance tells the story of the creation of the universe. Plasticiens Volant has performed at the Olympic Games in Barcelona, Paralympic Games in Australia and festivals from Canada to Japan.

Tickets for Big Bang $15 for general admission, $35 for reserved seating. Reserved seating is only available for the Earth Harp performance. Tickets are on sale now at tickets.com and artpark.net, by phone at 1-888-223-6000, and at the Artpark Box Office.
