New York State Police made an arrest at the entrance to the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station during random vehicle inspections for The Thunder of Niagara International Air Show.

Police say during the inspections at the Tuscarora Gate an 18-year-old operator was found in possession of a handgun. Police have since identified the suspect as Simeon Brovont of Idaho. He is charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, a class C felony. State police say Brovont was in possession of a .22 caliber handgun without a NY pistol permit.

Brovont is being held on $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond at the Niagara County Jail.

Police say the incident does not pose a threat at The Thunder of Niagara International Air Show.
