Catholic Charities has begun its Appeal Week 2018 in a push to meet its goal of raising $11 million for the 70 programs and services provided throughout the eight counties of Western New York.

The 94th annual Appeal Week began Saturday and will continue March 24 and 25 (Palm Sunday) in all parishes throughout the Diocese of Buffalo.

The push celebrates the support of Western New Yorkers who have already made a contribution this year, and encourages others who have not already donated to do so now.

As of now, Catholic Charities has raised $5.7 million, just over half it's goal.

The results of Appeal Week 2018 will be announced at a news conference on Tuesday, March 27.

The campaign is behind other years, according to the CEO of Catholic Charities of Buffalo, possibly due to the sexual abuse allegations in the Catholic Church, among other factors.
