Crews working for the Amherst Highway Department used a smartphone to rescue five baby ducks from a sewer on Sweet Home Road Wednesday.

One of the members of the highway department played the sound of a duck to attract the ducklings to the smartphone. Crews also added water to a different sewer receiver to raise the water level. This made it easier for crews to scoop up the baby ducks.

The mother was nowhere near the ducklings, so their rescuers took them to Amherst Manor, a popular destination for local ducks. The babies were successfully adopted by another duck there and are doing well.
