The company working to turn the old Market Arcade Film and Arts Center into an AMC Theatre has not yet closed on the real estate transaction for the building.
In May 2015 The Benchmark Group announced it would build a state of the art movie theatre across the street from Shea’s. When this project was first announced, Benchmark said it hoped to raise the curtain in April 2016. That expected completion date was later pushed back to summer/fall 2016.
To date, there is no shovel in the ground.
A spokesperson for Benchmark tells 7 Eyewitness News that the building is scheduled to close within the next several days.
AMC has not yet responded to an email from 7 Eyewitness News requesting an update.
