Airlines want passengers to use #iHateTheWait on social media to show delays at Transportation Security Administration checkpoints across the country.
Trade group Airlines for America represent most of the country's major airlines, with the exception of Delta Air Lines. The online campaign is catching on quickly because of long wait times nationwide.
"Sometimes you even miss your flight," said Jacob Chege, a passenger at Denver International Airport.
Richard Cook expects to wait, so he purchased a book to pass the time.
"Well, the lines are great," Cook joked. "They give me a chance to catch up on my reading!"
And, while passengers understand TSA has an important job to do, the country's major airports also hate the wait.
Some in New York and New Jersey are joining others threatening to hire private security if TSA can't speed things up.
TSA has had to cut staff this year. The TSA is asking Congress for more funding, while telling passengers to arrive two to three hours before their flights.
A record number of passengers are expected to travel through U.S. airports this summer.
