The Buffalo Public School District is canceling after school sports Wednesday afternoon, citing high temperatures throughout the area.

According to Tweet sent out by the district, "The Heat Index is expected to exceed 96 degrees this afternoon. Per state guidelines all football, soccer, volleyball, golf and cross country practices and games are canceled today."

A heat advisory is in effect until 10:00 pm for all of Erie County.
