After 'Scary Lucy,' new statue to be unveiled

A new statue of Lucille Ball is being unveiled in the late actress' hometown to replace one that was so hated it was dubbed "Scary Lucy."

Sculptor Carolyn Palmer hopes her tribute will please fans who demanded that another artist's unflattering version be banished through a Facebook campaign with the name, "We Love Lucy! Get Rid of this Statue."

Palmer's statue is to be unveiled Saturday in the Lucille Ball Memorial Park in the western New York village of Celoron.

The sculptor won't reveal too much about the new Lucy in advance of the official debut, but says she wanted to show her subject's energy and confidence.

As for Scary Lucy, Mayor Scott Schrecengost says she's too popular to remove altogether. She'll be given another spot in the park.
