Heroin and opioid addiction will be President Obama's focus--in a panel discussion Tuesday--about how to curb the nation's heroin epidemic.

President Obama will be in Atlanta for the National Drug Abuse and Heroin Summit.

Last year, Obama announced a number of ways the feds would help cut down on drug abuse, including prescriber training.

President Obama has also recommended doctors check databases and monitor what pills patients are being prescribed, to avoid doctor shopping for pills.

Some more proposals and action items could be unveiled today, as well.

Closer to home, Gowanda High School will host an opiate awareness night for parents.  If you're concerned about their kids using heroin or opioids.

The forum will be held from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. in the school's auditorium.
