Amherst Police are urging motorists to secure their pets while traveling after an accident claimed the life of a dog Friday afternoon.
The accident happened near the intersection of Mill Street and Sheridan Drive.
A second dog escaped from the scene and is currently missing.
The dog is a medium-sized pitbull mix with white and brown fur. It is wearing an orange collar.
