Gas prices are down from this time last week across Western New York. But AAA says you should not expect them to stay that way.

Right now, AAA is reporting the average price for a gallon of gas in Buffalo is $2.66, down two cents in the past week. And Batavia has an average price of $2.68 per gallon, which is down just one cent.

Both now sit below the state average of $2.73 per gallon, which is also down three cents.

AAA Western and Central New York says the slight dip in prices is partially due to quicker maintenance at refineries nationwide and a boost in domestic oil production.

But AAA warns not to get too excited.

Some analysts believe the price of gas could surge 20-25 cents per gallon this spring as refineries switch over to more expensive summer blend fuels.

Fortunately, there are ways to save a few bucks when you go to fill up your tank.

AAA has resources available here for discounts on gas at stations like NOCO and Fastrac.
