Rochester police arrested 74 people during a protest last night centered around East Avenue and Alexander Street.
The protest was over the fatal shooting of black men by police in Minnesota, Louisiana and also the deaths of some local residents this past year.
The arrests, which Police say were for disorderly conduct, took place late Friday night and early Saturday morning.
According to our sister station 13WHAM in Rochester, several witnesses reported protestors were chanting, "Hands up, don't shoot" and "Black lives matter!" as they were taken away by police.
During the protest, police briefly detained two 13WHAM reporters as you can see in this video posted on their Facebook page.
No criminal charges were made and the police say the two reporters were promptly released as they were trying to clear the sidewalks.
The Police Chief and Mayor later apologized for detaining the two reporters.
