Posted

A vehicle slammed into the back of a tractor before crossing the center of the road and colliding head-on with a vehicle coming the opposite direction.

It happened around 5 p.m. on Saunders Settlement Road in the Town of Cambria. Stephen M Wallace took these photos of the crash.

Niagara County Sheriff’s deputies say the driver of a vehicle traveling west, 36-year-old Ryan Kinder of Newfane struck the back of the tractor, which was traveling on the shoulder. After hitting the tractor, the vehicle veered into the eastbound lane where it collided head-on with another vehicle.

Kinder and the driver of the other vehicle, 39-year-old Sheila Howard of Wheatfield, were flown to ECMC by Mercy Flight. There were two passengers in the vehicle that was hit head-on. Geoffrey Howard, 45, of Wheatfield was taken by ambulance to ECMC for treatment and the second passenger, a juvenile, was taken by ambulance to Women and Children’s Hospital.

The driver of the tractor, 65-year-old William Fronczak of Cambria, was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
