On Tuesday, Independent Adoption Center declared bankruptcy.
The closure of the adoption center, which operated across the country, is effective immediately. The staff at Adoption STAR in Amherst says they are available for any families needing guidance and support through the closure. Adoptive parents or birth parents can call the toll free number at 1-866-691-3300 for help.
Adoption STAR says it is helping clients that had worked with Independent Adoption Center.
According to Adoption STAR, there has been an increase in child placements over the years and the company does not see that decreasing anytime soon.
