Timothy Richardson's family is hosting a bone marrow drive at Roswell Park on Tuesday, June 5th from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Richardson is a fire explorer with the Hy-View Fire Company in Cheektowaga.

The bone marrow donor drive is being held at Roswell Park. All it takes to be added to the registry is a simple cheek swab.

Deana Richardson, Timmy's mom says the support from staff at Roswell Park and from firefighters across the globe has been overwhelming. Timmy says the support has given him a lot of strength as he continues his second round of chemotherapy.

"People say 'you're so strong' but I think I'm going through something that's tough on by body but it's nothing I can't handle and I want to be a firefighter so there's a lot more tough things to go ahead. That's what I think about is getting out of here and doing firefighting stuff," says Richardson.

Richardson asked for local fire companies to send shirts for him to wear during his first round of treatment. He has received shirts from fire companies from as far away as Germany.

Keep in mind, you don't have to attend Tuesday's bone marrow drive in order to be added to the registry. You have the potential to be matched to anyone in need of a transplant across the world.
