Lockport police filed charges against a 13-year-old on Monday, after the teen admitted to sending a tip that two North Park Junior High School students would bring guns to school last Friday.

According to police, the teen initially sent a tip to North Park saying two students with access to guns were going to "shoot up the place."

The Lockport City School District notified the Lockport Police Department. They determined there was no substantiated threat against the school, no guns were ever brought to the school, and the details of the threat were "entirely fictitious." Together, they were able to identify the teen who sent the tip and obtain an admission from the teen.

On Monday, the 13-year-old was charged with falsely reporting an incident. The suspect has not been named due to their age. The prosecution of the case will be handled by the Niagara County Probation Department.
