1000 doses of suspected heroin from narcotics raid was actually fentanyl

Erie County Sheriff Timothy Howard says the heroin found in a narcotics raid in Buffalo last Monday was actually fentanyl.

The suspected heroin was tested at the Central Police Services Lab, where it was confirmed at that the 50 grams of narcotics was actually about 1,000 doses of fentanyl.

The raid resulted in the arrest of three-time convicted drug felon James Carter, 31. Deputies also found a handgun, crack cocaine, numerous Xanax pills and marijuana.

Carter remains at the Erie County Holding Center on $40,000 bail.
