A 10-year-old boy from Lewiston was taken to Oishei Children's Hospital in Buffalo via Mercy Flight Friday evening after a lawn mower incident.

The boy faces possible leg amputation, according to Lewiston Fire Company No. 1.

The incident happened around 7 p.m. on the 4600 block of Creek Road, near the Seneca Hickory Stick Golf Course.

The Mercy Flight helicopter was seen landing on the golf course.  A witness told 7 Eyewitness News that the helicopter was on scene for 10-15 minutes.  The witness described seeing an ambulance also pulling into the golf course.

Fire officials say upon arrival first responders applied a tourniquet to his leg.
