"Operation Blue Death" takes down national drug trafficking ring

Today, Attorney General Schneiderman announced the takedown of a 10-person drug trafficking ring that allegedly trafficked heroine and fake oxycodone pills containing fentanyl -- from California to Western New York. 

A multi-agency investigation called "Operation Blue Death" investigated nine Buffalo residents and their alleged supplier in California accused of selling narcotics throughout Erie and Chautauqua Counties. 

According to the Attorney General's Office, today's indictment charged 10 people with a total of 59 felony counts of possession and distribution of narcotics:

  • Jonathan Rosario - Buffalo, N.Y.
  • Jonathan Ivan Medina, also known as "Tati" - Buffalo, N.Y.
  • Carlos Martinez - Buffalo, N.Y.
  • Roger Gonzalez - Buffalo, N.Y.
  • Randy Gonzalez - Buffalo, N.Y.
  • Pablo Zambrano - Buffalo, N.Y.
  • Frank Perez, also known as "Andy" - Buffalo, N.Y.
  • Angel Medina - Buffalo, N.Y.
  • Anthony Roman - Buffalo, N.Y.
  • Fernando Maldonado, also known as "Fendi" - Buffalo, N.Y.

Since 2011, the Attorney General's Organized Crime Task Force has busted more than 35 large narcotics trafficking rings.
