'Marshall' movie filmed in Buffalo nominated for an Oscar

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) - Marshall, the movie about the life of Thurgood Marshall, the first black justice on the U.S. Supreme Court, received one Oscar nomination Tuesday morning for the 90th Academy Awards.

Marshall was nominated in the 'Original Song' category for 'Stand Up For Something,' written by Diane Warren and Lonnie R. Lynn. It is performed by singer Andra Day.

The movie, which starred Chadwick Boseman, Sterling Brown, Kate Hudson and Josh Gad, shot scenes in Buffalo and Niagara Falls in May and June of 2016.

Dozens of extras were used during that time, and the production pumped an estimated five million dollars into the local economy.

The Academy Awards air Sunday, March 4th at 8 p.m. on 7ABC.
