BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Getting to Toronto from the Niagara Falls region is about to get a whole lot easier. According to GO Transit, year round week-day service from Union Station in Toronto to St. Catharines and Niagara Falls, Ontario will begin January 7.

Monday through Friday, the "Lakeshore West" train will leave Niagara Falls, ON at 5:19 AM and will depart from Toronto at 5:15 PM. The trip will cost you $22.30 in Canadian dollars, each way.

“My parents are expecting me to visit more and I could visit the same night and I could come back early the next morning and I could still make it to work so I can comedown on weekdays so it’s still very convenient," Brad Levelle says, who now lives in downtown Toronto after growing up in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
“All people that commute from here have to drive all the way to Toronto because it’s just not convenient enough to take mass transit as of right now so you’re gonna be seeing a lot of cars off the road and a lot of people taking the train directly there.”

The new service is designed for commuters in mind, not tourists, but anyone can use it. The train schedule could be expanded if Go Transit sees that the public need is there.

This service extension was expected in a few years, but is launching early in 2019.
