With the holiday season also comes holiday hiring to keep up with demand. The best part, aside from extra cash? Pull out your Christmas jammies and hot cocoa because some of these seasonal jobs can be done right at home. Williams-Sonoma has a variety of work-from-home positions up for grabs this season! The home furnishing and kitchenware store is looking for "warm, friendly and upbeat sales/service oriented" people to fill their seasonal customer service associate positions. Those hired will resolve customer concerns via phone, email or live chat. According to one of multiple job postings, the salary is $11.50 an hour. Employees will work between 30 and 50 hours a week and paid virtual training will take place weekdays from Oct. 2 to Oct. 20. Employees also get a 40 percent discount on merchandise. Perfect timing for the holiday season, right? Williams-Sonoma also offers contests, rewards and recognition programs, plus opportunities for promotions. Other great benefits for working from home for Williams-Sonoma?  You can avoid the store during their busiest time. Plus, if you live in a state that sees snow, you get to stay warm inside without a fear of getting stuck in your driveway or on the road.

Basic work-from-home job requirements

  • You must be tech savvy with the ability to maintain your home office and basic troubleshooting of software.
  • You'll need a distraction-free work environment.
  • You must be self-motivated and able to operate independently according to policies and procedures.

There are also a number of technology requirements, so be sure to read the job positing fully to make sure you have the necessities.

Finding other seasonal work

If you're looking for something that gets you out of the house this season, plenty of stores are hiring as well.  Last year, we did a rundown of some of the retailers hiring around the holidays. While some already have listed positions for this year, like Macy’s and Kohl’s, others aren’t quite there yet. So keep checking back for updates in the next few weeks! Target also announced they’re hiring 100,000 seasonal workers. And with the number of Target locations around the country, you can likely apply for a position right in your neighborhood.

Other Work-From-Home Jobs

If you're looking for a more steady gig, check out Humana. They just announced the need for more than 100 work-from-home jobs that include full benefits. You could also apply to be a work-from-home researcher for the company Wonder, which uses freelance researchers to provide clients with data, lists and spreadsheets about a variety of topics. Or, maybe you want to apply to be a transcriptionist for Allegis Transcription, which is currently hiring both entry-level and experienced workers for the insurance industry.
