Get free admission to museums on Sept. 23

If your Saturday is wide open, we've got something for you to do: You can get free admission for you and a friend to dozens of museums across the country! It's all part of something called "Museum Day Live!" which is being organized by Smithsonian Magazine. To see which museums are participating near you, visit this handy museum finder and enter your zip code. By the looks of it, there are hundreds of museums participating in all regions of the country. https://twitter.com/ParkCentralNY/status/909763442126487553 Once you've decided which museum you'd like to visit, you'll want to click on that museum, which will pop open a page with information about that specific location. Click the "Get Tickets" button, and you'll be taken to a page that prompts you to enter your name and email address. You'll select your museum of choice from the dropdown menu. Once you've entered all your info, you'll see the tickets appear in your email inbox and on the next screen. Either print them out or simply show the museum attendant the tickets on your smartphone (be sure to double check that your specific museum will let you show them your phone—each individual museum page says whether or not they will!). Keep in mind that once you select a museum, you won't be able to switch to another museum. So, what's this all about? The magazine wants you to engage your "boundless curiosity" by learning and exploring at a local museum. Pretty cool! "Museum Day Live! is an annual celebration of boundless curiosity hosted by Smithsonian magazine. Participating museums and cultural institutions across the country provide entry to anyone presenting a Museum Day Live! ticket," according to the event organizers. They're also encouraging people to share their experiences on social media with the hashtags "#BoundlessCuriosity" and "#MuseumDayLive."
