Chicken wings are by far one of the most popular Super Bowl appetizers, as they can be a meal all on their own or the perfect snack. They’re so popular, in fact, that they even have their very own holiday.

Established in 1977 by Buffalo, New York mayor Stan Makowski, July 29 has been National Chicken Wing Day for more than four decades. Aside from just eating chicken wings to celebrate, you can also spend the day finding deals at restaurants who celebrate as well.

This year, Applebee’s is celebrating by offering buy one, get one free wings to go and for delivery. Simply order on the Applebee’s website or via the Applebee’s mobile app and using code WINGDAY. The deal is valid on boneless or bone-in and on any flavor (classic hot buffalo, sweet Asian chili or honey BBQ) — but only on July 29. Mix and match your flavors if you like!

Applebee's

Of course, Applebee’s is not the only restaurant offering up some deals for National Chicken Wing Day.

If you have a Pasqually’s Pizza & Wings near you, you can get a free order of wings with any purchase of $15 or more if you’re ordering through GrubHubUberEats or Door Dash. You will need to use code WINGS at GrubHub and promo code WINGSDAY for Door Dash; no promo code is needed for UberEats.

If you don’t mind dining in, Hooters is handing out 10 free boneless wings with the purchase of any 10 wings at participating locations nationwide. (Check out their COVID-19 protocols here.)

If you’d rather celebrate National Chicken Wing Day at home, making your own wings is pretty simple.

These crispy baked parmesan wings require only five minutes of prep time, and theseair fryer wings have just six ingredients.

Even if you’re a vegetarian (me too!), you can still celebrate with meatless chicken, which you can find in grocery stores nationwide. A few brands to keep an eye out for include MorningStar Farms, Gardein, Alpha and Quorn, which even has new cheesy nuggets.
