Wellness Wednesday – Reduce anxiety with 4-7-8 breathing

Dr. Nicole Ferguson says during these chaotic times what has helped her to relax is mindfulness and deep breathing. One of her favorite breathing technics is the 4-7-8 breathing technique. She often does it when she is trying to fall asleep or when she is sitting in traffic.

Here’s what you do. You inhale to the count of 4 seconds, hold to the count of 7 seconds and exhale to the count of 8 seconds. She says she hopes you feel relaxed after this exercise and that it helps you as much as it helps her.
