The Kenny Awards

Posted

This weekend The Kenny Awards are taking place at Shea's Buffalo.

Ten local high schools will be honored.

"The Kenny" was created in 1993 in honor of the late Dr. Ken Lipke, the founder of Gibraltar Steel.

This award is a testimony to Dr. Lipke’s passion and dedication to the arts.

Since then, over 130 outstanding musical productions from local high schools have been recognized and honored by the Kenny Awards.

The Kenny Awards presents 14 awards in various categories, including “The Kenny” for Outstanding Musical Production, in which the winning school will receive a $5,000 scholarship for their theatre department from The Lipke Foundation.

In addition, the two students who win the Outstanding Leading Actor and Actress awards will receive an all-expenses paid trip to New York City in June 2017 to participate in the National High School Musical Theatre Awards Program, aka The Jimmy Awards.

The event is tomorrow at Shea's at 6pm.  Tickets are $10 at the door.
