Taste of the NFL goes virtual

The big game is almost here and for many of us, the food is just as important as the game. But for the 1 in 4 children in the United States, who are food insecure, it is just another day to be hungry. To help tackle childhood hunger, Taste of the NFL@ home is going virtual this year. Alexis Glick, CEO of GENYOUth, says the Taste of the NFL is an opportunity for all of us, to join them on game day in this live first ever virtual experience. Normally you would have to be at the game to be a part of the Taste of the NFL, but now anyone can be a part of it.

Award-winning tv personality, chef and writer Andrew Zimmern says he has co-hosted the event for the past 11 of the last 12 years on the night before the big game and they were able to host anywhere between three to five thousand people depending on the venue. Now, he says, they can reach out and touch hundreds of thousands of people and through awareness raising millions more. He is going to make his sweet and sticky chicken wings which is one of his favorite recipes for the big game on Sunday.

Alexis Glick says they work in the schools right there in your community. Over 30 million kids in America rely on the school building for critical meals on a daily basis, but two thirds of our schools are in some form of hybrid or distance learning. She says what we need to do is make sure we get those meals that are in the school building to those kids who are at home in distance learning scenarios.

You can get these great recipes at tasteofthenfl.com and catch it streaming live this Sunday!
