Shakespeare in Delaware Park was founded in 1976 as a summer apprenticeship program for SUNY Buffalo students to gain experience alongside professional actors. Today, it is the second-oldest and one of the largest outdoor Shakespeare theatre programs in the country. They perform for over 40,000 people annually.

Their mission is to provide free, high-quality public theatre to the most people they can. They hope to enrich, inspire and entertain diverse audiences through performance of Shakespeare. They hope to engage people of all ages and backgrounds in their performances. To date, they have entertained approximately 1.5 million guests!
