May is National Foster Care Awareness Month. There are over 900 kids currently a part of Erie County’s Foster Care System. Because there aren't enough foster homes, siblings are often split from one another.
Linda is joined by Sarah Welker, Foster Parent Recruiter at Gateway Longview and Heather Arnold, a foster parent from Clarence. Heather and her husband Jake have three biological children and have been foster parents with Gateway-Longview since 2016. They welcomed one young girl through foster care over 3 years ago and are now expecting to adopt her into their “forever family” this summer!

Last year Gateway Longview celebrated 22 adoptions and 5 family reunifications.

Gateway Longview offers comprehensive foster care & adoption services to support families throughout Erie County. They work to match children in care with safe, nurturing foster home environments where they are set up to thrive. Many of Gateway Longview Foster Care staff are also foster and adoptive parents themselves.

The Gateway Longview signature fundraiser is coming up Friday, June 21st at Buffalo River Fest Park. All proceeds will benefit the nearly 10,000 children and families served by Gateway Longview and New Directions Youth and Family Services.
